Dunoon Swimming Club is a competitive swimming club, competing at all levels from the mini league which is 11 and under to the National Senior Championships which are normally held at Tollcross in Glasgow annually.
The club has twelve sessions a week booked at the Riverside which includes three morning sessions from 6.45 – 8.00am. We currently have 71 swimmers who are involved in various squads from Monday to Friday. The swimmers are coached by Speth Black(Head Coach) and Craig Anderson(Assistant Head Coach) supported by a team of assistant coaches within the club.
The main aim is for the swimmers to improve their personal best time and enjoy the experience of competitive swimming. Our recent gala at Drumchapel swimming pool highlighted the Team spirit and discipline that all of our coaches have experienced. The Team finished first equal with the hosts Kingston.
In 2013 we received grants from Awards For All and Argyll and Bute Council which enabled us to put volunteers through The National Aquatic Teaching and Coaching qualifications. The volunteers have given the club a structure which supports Speth and Craig at every session and their support is invaluable to the future development of the club. We also ran a timekeepers course and now have ten volunteers going through the qualification process.
