Anniversary Gala
On 20 September 2008 to celebrate the Club’s 40th birthday the five Argyll S.A.S.A. registered Swimming Clubs gathered at the Riverside Centre. With large turnouts from Helensburgh, Campbeltown, Oban, Islay & Jura Dolphins and an almost100% attendance from the host Club of Dunoon, the atmosphere was electric, and the noise and enthusiasm of swimmers and supporters enormous.
The Dunoon team included all of the swimmers who currently take part take part in the coaching and training programme of the Club, from the youngest 5 year old, Rees McIntyre to the very experienced 18 year old Captain, David Robinson.
To allow the maximum number of swimmers to compete, there were extra heats in the younger age groups with many of these youngsters gaining personal best times (which is what makes the coaches happy!) and the medals being well shared out amongst all the clubs. The hosts ran out worthy winners at the end of the day.
The gala show-cased the new timing board which in addition to electronically timing the swimmers, also allows the display of notices and promotion of advertising.
